As we prepare for our first full calendar year with you, we want to share some news about what we have in store and look back at our last month of writing and conversations.
First, we’re updating when we share new posts. Previously, we’ve published on Thursday mornings. Beginning on January 8, we’ll publish on Monday mornings. This way, we’ll have a full week to continue the conversation with you in the comments section.
Second, you can follow us on Instagram. We’re @watchingtogetheralone. We hope to not only see you there, but hear from you as well. Instagram is a place where so many of us have conversations about what we’re watching and the culture we’re thinking about.
Third, as you’ll see in the links below, we’ve begun publishing audio of our monthly conversation posts, and we’re bringing in guests. This was a request we heard from you, and we’d love to hear more of your ideas for features, for shows we should discuss, and for guests we should reach out to.
Finally, a few of you have kindly pledged support for the work that we do, and we’ve decided to turn on the payments feature here and accept your generosity. This doesn’t mean we’re putting up a paywall, though. All of our weekly essays and conversations will remain free for everyone. Payments are simply a way for you to show your support for the writing we do and the community we’re building. They are greatly appreciated, but are in no way mandatory. It’s sort of like public radio (where Gabe used to work). Maybe in the future we’ll have tote bags.
That said, we’ll be back on January 8 with a new essay. In the meantime, here’s a look at our writing from December:
