I was on Okcupid as early as 2006, and til 2007 or so they had this persona test with artfully rendered personality types that would match with recommendations. One of them was called the "Battleaxe," which resembled the image in this post. I think many of them were archetypes that actually seemed more desirable and predictable than what is on most sites today:
